The Woodstock Easter Egg Hunt is a long tradition for our town. Bugs Bunny, Elmo and a firehouse Dalmatian arrived by a special ride from a firetruck at noon on Easter Sunday. All the kids anxiously awaited on the side of the road.
This year, 1,500 eggs laid over three fields for the children to gather. Most of the eggs were filled with candy. But 36 large eggs were each filled with a ticket. For the lucky kids who found them, they won a big prize.
The egg hunt is sponsored by the Woodstock Fire Department. I asked Kevin Peters, fire chief, about the event.
Come to Woodstock: How long has this event been running for?
Kevin Peters: I think around 45 to 50 years. But the local owner of the pharmacy run it for many years and he gave it up and the company has done it for 25 years now.
The Woodstock Easter Egg Hunt happens every year at noon on Easter Sunday on the Woodstock Town Fields down Comeau Drive.
